I wanted to walk away but...
Time to stop
Well to say things have been quiet is an understatement. In December I decided it was in my best interests to no longer take part in Australian motorcycle racing.

For 2 years I did a good job. I had help from the right people, built very good motorcycles and beat factory teams that I raced against when I competed in Australia a long time ago, all in just 2 years. So that was reasonably satisfying. Our last race with my favorite motorcycle, the ZX6R, was successful by way of 2nd place at MotoGP. But it was at MotoGP last October that an opportunity to enter V8 Supercars came along.

Since then it has been up in the air. 1 team changed owners and new rules plus new manufacturers have made the V8 series a bit unstable.

A lot of motorcycle stuff has come my way but unless it was overseas, and I won't beat around the bush, unless it was well paid, I wasn't moving.

There are several opportunities outside of motorsport that are also attractive but a few weeks ago the phone rang!
Q. Do you still have the bikes?
A. Yes.
Q. Do you want to go racing?
A. No.

Then the industry phone calls...
Q. Can we use your bikes?
A. Why?
Q. Can you help us win? We know the bikes are good.
A. Let me think about it.

Since then I have spoken to everyone involved with my racing in Australia and overseas. Everyone's response was the same... Only do it if it's the right thing for you to do.

Last Friday I made a decision to win the 2013 Australian Supersport Championship with Aaron Gobert and all of the WNR Kawasaki team's sponsors. So we are going racing!

It's amazing what can happen within a few days and in saying that, we have all we need to fight for the Australian Supersport Championship this year. I will have other projects going on through the year, most likely with 4 wheels. Therefore I won't be at all of the races but as probably expected, I'm very focused on helping Aaron Gobert succeed each time he leaves pit lane.

This weekend will be busy but exciting with my focus on Matt Davies in the World Supersport Championship and now with Aaron in Round One of the domestic series!
